Honda Motor Co. Ltd. is widely known as leading manufacturers of automobiles, motorcycles and power equipment. It’s a Japanese public multinational corporation which tops the world wide list as the largest motorcycle manufacturers as well as internal combustion engine manufacturer producing 14 million combustion engines annually. In Japan, Honda is the second largest automobile manufacturer since 2001 and eight largest automobile manufacturer around the globe since 2011.

Soichiro Honda, the founder of Honda, with his immense love for automobiles led to the establishment of this legendary brand. An employee of a tuning shop in Japan from a very young age, Soichiro was sure of making it big. A self-made engineer, tuning cars and entering them in races was his primary job at that point. He founded his company with external financing which manufactured piston rings. Toyota rejected his stocks due to poor quality but Soichiro went back to school, studied about Toyota’s quality parameters and got it accepted the next time. Later he established the Honda Technical Research Institute in Hamamatsu, Japan, to develop and produce small 2-cycle motorbike engines. In 1949, it was liquidated and these funds were used to incorporate Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Dream was the first motorcycles completely made by Honda including both frame and engine and by 1964, it became the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles.

The first automobile manufactured by Honda was T360 mini pick-up truck sod in August 1963 followed by the first car S500 in October 1963.

Honda has its assembly plants around the globe like China, United States, Pakistan, Canada, England, Japan, Belgium, Brazil, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Turkey. With its headquarters in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, Honda automobiles is counted amongst the Big Asian Four namely Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai. It has assembly plants in China, US, Pakistan, Canada, England, Japan, Belgium, Brazil, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Turkey. . Honda is the sixth largest automobile manufacturer in the world.

Fit (Jazz), Civic, Accord, Insight, CR-V, and Odyssey are amongst the global line up for Honda and features vary by country and region. Other models include Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord. Honda Civic and Accord hybrid have been available in the U.S market. Honda was the first Japanese automobile manufacturer to release a dedicated luxury brand, Acura, in 1986
